Objective:
Students will be able to use the Elements of Art- Line, Space and Color to create a positive/negative space caricature portrait.
Step One-
Choose one piece of 6" x 18" colored construction paper and one piece of 12" x 18" piece of colored construction paper.
Step Two-
Cut the outline of the caricature's head/hair, neck and shoulders from the 6" x 18" piece of construction paper. Remember it is a caricature so you want to exaggerate the person's features.
Step Three-
Cut out the face from the head/hair, neck and shoulders piece.
Step Four-
Cut out eyes, nose, lips/mouth and any other feature from the face
How to put your positive/negative space portrait together
Glue outline- make sure edges are lined up with the corners of the background paper.
Place outline of the head/hair. neck & shoulders opposite of piece you just glued.
Take the face that was cut out and place it opposite the head/hair, neck and shoulders.
Finally, place the eyes, nose, mouth and anything else cut from the face opposite the face.
